Hope for Arsenal and Liverpool, as talks between Blues and Senegal striker break down.
Demba Ba’s proposed move to Chelsea has collapsed after the West London club failed to offer a significant improvement on the prolific striker’s wage packet at Newcastle.
Ba earns £20,000-a-week basic at St James’ Park plus further £20,000 appearance money and had hoped a move to Chelsea would see him at least double that figure.
However, talks between Chelsea and Ba’s representatives on Sunday night proved ‘unproductive’.

What a turn out for the books!
Demba Ba’s move to Chelsea appears to be off after the Blues failed to meet the Newcastle striker’s wage demands – despite being one of the richest clubs in world football.
Having activated Ba’s modest £7.5m release-clause, it seems a strange decision not the offer the 27-year-old a decent pay packet.
The top earners at Stamford Bridge are, after all, on monstrous wages, with skipper John Terry reportedly taking home between £135,000 and £150,000 every week (despite being a toe-rag, completely devoid of any morality).
After adding a cool 13 goals in twenty appearances to the 16 he scored for the Toon last term, Ba is vindicated in his belief that he should be at least approaching Chelsea’s top earners.
The Blues stinginess has opened the door for the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham to swoop for the former West Ham forward, who joined the Toon on a free transfer in August 2011.
However, if wages are the issue, all three clubs have proved unwilling to fork out huge sums in recent seasons, and Ba may ultimately decide that his future lies outside the Premier League, with mega-rich Ligue 1 outfit PSG also said to be interested.
