It’s a huge match in the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh as New Zealand and Sri Lanka go head-to-head for a place in the semi-finals.

The winner of this match will join South Africa in the final four and therefore there is everything to play for in this crucial tie in Chittagong.

The Sri Lankans are old hat in the shortest format of the game, having reached the final of the World T20 twice – although never actually lifting the trophy.

In contrast the Kiwis are notoriously poor at this level and reaching the semis would be uncharted territory for the nation.

They will be looking towards their experienced captain and Twenty20 specialist Brendon McCullum for inspiration, as well as talismanic batsman Ross Taylor.

In Sri Lanka though they face opponents who are understandably brilliant in subcontinental conditions and have a formidable bowling lineup.

Ajantha Mendis and Lasith Malinga will be the dangermen for the New Zealanders, whilst with the bat veterans Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara are still the main threat – well supported by Kusal Perera.

This is set to be a hugely exciting match.
