New Zealand pair Ian Butler and Grant Elliott have been ruled out of the Twenty20 opener with England in Auckland through injury.

James Neesham has been called into the squad for the Eden Park game to cover the injuries, although both Butler and Elliott are both expected to be fit enough to take part in the second game of the series in Hamilton on Tuesday.
Butler, one of New Zealand’s key pace bowlers, suffered an ankle injury representing a New Zealand XI in a warm up game against England and will not be risked with plenty of cricket ahead of him.
All-round Elliott, meanwhile, has a minor quad strain and will sit out the Auckland game to give it a chance to heal ahead of the game in Hamilton.
The 22-year-old all-rounder Neesham was part of New Zealand’s one-day squad which was successful in South Africa last month
New Zealand physiotherapist Paul Close said: “I’m confident that both Ian and Grant will be available for the second Twenty20 match in Hamilton on Tuesday night.”
England captain Stuart Broad will return from injury after coming through the two warm-up games without suffering any problems with his heel injury.
