A strong finish in 2013 allowed Milliner to take over the starting CB position after a rocky rookie year. Now Milliner is confident enough declare himself the best CB in the league.
A shaky start to his NFL career did nothing to stop Jets CB Dee Milliner from feeling confident about his abilities as a top NFL corner. Milliner believes that he is the best CB in the NFL.
“The best corner in the league? Me,” Milliner told the Daily News. “I ain’t gonna say that somebody else is better than me.”
Milliner was given the starting CB position after the team cut Antonio Cromartie.
Milliner started 12 games in 2013. He was benched three times due to poor performances at various point in the season.
Milliner’s breakout performance was in game 15 against the Cleveland Browns, when he recorded his first interception and held All-Pro WR Josh Gordon without a touchdown en route to a 24-13 victory. The following week, Milliner recorded two more interceptions to help lead the Jets to a 20-7 victory over the Miami Dolphins, allowing them to finish the year with a 8-8 record. For his performance, Milliner was named NFL Rookie of the Month for December.
