Rodgers thinks his new additions will set the Premiership on fire.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is delighted with his two Spanish acquisitions Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto, he told the official Liverpool website.
Rodgers is especially excited about 20-year-old Luis Alberto, who scored 11 goals for Barcelona B last season, and is hoping he can have a similar impact to his Brazilian prodigy Coutinho.
“He’s a very young player but he’s played competitive games, and the philosophy won’t be anything new to him.
“He understands the game very well. He’s got the right profile of what we want and he’s another player who can score goals.
“I’m very much looking forward to working with him and seeing how he develops in the squad.
“There’s no pressure. You saw with Philippe Coutinho, who came in at the beginning of the year at 20 years of age, and he was a similar profile – had experience but was young. He set the Premier League alight in his first six months here.
“Luis is big as well and hopefully he can produce for us like many of the Spanish players have done over the years.”
The Northern Irishman is similarly excited about working with 25-year-old forward Iago Aspas, who he believes has the fighting qualities necessary to succeed at a club like Liverpool.
Aspas was signed from Celta Vigo earlier in the summer, after scoring 12 times in the league for the Spanish club.
“Iago is a real competitor but he’s also got quality as well. We’re really looking forward to seeing him in action,” he said.
With Liverpool potentially losing Luis Suarez and recently missing out on Henrikh Mkhitaryan, both Aspas and Alberto could have prominent roles to play in the starting team.
