Sakho was clearly too strong for the medical staff at Anfield to handle.
Liverpool’s £18m signing Mamadou Sakho is expected to bring some strength at the back for the Reds, after joining from Paris Saint-Germain on transfer deadline day.
Yet the club may have bitten off more than they can chew as the France international admits to having broken the cardiovascular machine during the defender’s medical.
“How do you know this? Yes, it’s true!” the centre-back told the Mirror.
“It’s true that one of the machines did break. Something went wrong with it, so they had to fix it, not reinforce it.
“Strength is one of my attributes and I want to continue developing my strength as it is a key part of my game.”
Sakho made the 23-year-old’s debut for the Merseyside outfit during the club’s 2-2 draw with Swansea City on Monday.
There was some crticism aimed at the Frenchman who seemed to struggle against a Swans attack that included Michu and Wilfried Bony.
However, Sakho moves from France with a great reputation having progressed from the PSG youth academy.
The centre-back was offered little opportunity at the Parc des Princes though when big names signings Thiago Silva and Alex arrived last summer and when wonderkid Marquinhos was bought in this year, the defender decided it was time to leave.
Manager Brendan Rodgers will be hoping that Sakho can channel the strength that was shown in the medical, into helping Liverpool mount a serious challenge for Champions League qualification this season.
