Wiggins amongst favourites to be first overall pick.
Kansas starlet Andrew Wiggins is expected to announce that he will leave after just one season for the NBA at a news conference scheduled for Monday afternoon.
According to ESPN sources, the school has released a statement that the freshman will make an announcement 3 p.m. ET, with many noting that he will declare for the draft later this year.
Along with the likes of Joel Embiid and Jabari Parker, Wiggins is expected to be a high draft pick overall, with some certain that he will be the first name to be read out.
The 6-foot-8 star has averaged 17.1 points and 5.9 rebounds this past season and was the Big 12 freshman of the year and a first-team all-conference selection.
As a result, the 19-year-old has caught the eye of numerous current stars in the NBA, and even though he has already shown his promise, many experts believe that he will continue to develop and add to his athleticism and current strengths to evolve into a genuine star of the league.
Wiggins has previously indicated in an interview with ESPN The Magazine that he would only stay in school for one year before moving onto the NBA, and while several other youngsters have announced that they will be available for selection, scouts and general managers still await some top names to confirm.
Embiid is amongst those who can be expected to go in the top three in June, but there is inevitably a great deal of excitement over where Wiggins will be end up, and teams will undoubtedly be paying close attention to his press conference on Monday.
