Los Angeles Lakers point guard Steve Nash reportedly looks good in scrimmages in pre-season as he looks to overcome nerve issue problems that blighted him last year.
The veteran NBA star played in just 15 games last season due to a nerve issue he suffered, which was a knock-on effect from his broken leg which he sustained the previous year.
While Nash has insisted that he would always come back for the final year of his contract, he is also determined to play significant minutes and earn his money before he calls time on his career.
His remarks caused a level of controversy after he admitted that he couldn’t turn his back on the figures available, but ultimately, he is also a professional and insisted that he would continue to work as hard as possible to help the franchise.
According to Mike Trudell of Lakers.com, he has heard consistent word over the last few weeks that Nash has looked good in scrimmages and that his nerve issues have improved this summer.
It is significant news for the Lakers as a healthy Nash undoubtedly changes their dynamic and adds much needed leadership, creativity and experience on the floor alongside Kobe Bryant.
However, the problem with the injury is that it is unpredictable, and seemingly when Nash was fully healthy at times last season, a re-occurrence of the issue put him back weeks in his rehabilitation.
Nevertheless, if Nash can build on his solid start to the summer and feature regularly for the Lakers this season, then the fans will be given additional hope that they can achieve something positive this season while bidding farewell to a legend of the game in style.
