The Cleveland Cavaliers have lifted the ban on the fan that rushed on to the court last year to urge LeBron James to return to the franchise.
James Blair was banned by the franchise after he ran onto the floor at the Quickens Loans Arena during a Cleveland game against the Miami Heat in 2013.
The Cavs fan was wearing a t-shirt which had “We Miss You” written on the front, with “2014 Come Back” written on the back as he ran towards James before being escorted off the court by security.
James was not threatened at all in the incident and went on to pat Blair on the head as he was led away, and it has been revealed that after a meeting with Blair on Monday, he has been permitted to enter the arena again.
The Cavs lifted the indefinite ban as they ruled he did not pose a security risk with James insisting that he “embraced” the situation as with the metal detectors at the arenas, he didn’t feel under threat.
James scored 25 points in that game as the Heat overcame a 27-point deficit in the third quarter to win, but it was mostly remembered for Blair’s introduction despite the fact that it was their 24th straight victory on a historic run.
