Swiss star believes top clubs in Champions League should also fear them.
Napoli midfielder Blerim Dzemaili has revealed that the squad teased Gonzalo Higuain after he returned to training following his fall in Capri.
The Argentinian striker required eight stitches to his face after his slip whilst out on a boat for the day, but returned to training a few days later with bandages on his cuts.
While there was initial fear of more serious damage and with club owner Aurelio De Laurentiis threatening the region with legal action for insufficient medical care, Dzemaili has revealed that the 25-year-old’s team-mates took a more light-hearted approach.
“We teased him a lot after he returned to training with his bandages. However, these things happen,” he is quoted as saying by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
However, he also discussed more serious matters with the draw for the group stages of the Champions League set to take place in Monte Carlo on Thursday.
The Partenopei have been placed in Pot 4 and could conceivably receive a difficult draw against some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
However, Dzemaili remained defiant and suggested that those clubs will also fear being drawn against Napoli, who are more than capable of making life difficult for Europe’s best.
“It would be a risk, but also an honour to face Barcelona. However, do not forget that even opponents are afraid of us. No team will want to meet Napoli,” he added.
The Swiss international also paid tribute to coach Rafa Benitez who has brought a different approach compared to former boss Walter Mazzarri, but given his pedigree in European football throughout his managerial career thus far, he will be hoping to bring success to Naples.
