The champions’ 1-0 loss is not a cause for concern for the Scot.
Manchester United suffered their first competitive defeat under new manager David Moyes when Liverpool triumphed 1-0 at Anfield in the Premier League.
It was the Reds’ third straight victory in the English top tier – the club’s best start since the 1994/95 season – and leaves United with just four points from three matches.
Yet despite the fact that the Red Devils already trail their rivals by five points, Moyes insists that the English champions don’t need any new players.
“We will try and do it [make new signings], but from what I saw of the players, I’m more than happy with the players I’ve got,” the 50-year-old told Sky Sports.
The transfer window closes at 11pm on Monday and to date United have only signed Uruguay under-20 international Guillermo Varela.
Moyes has tried to bring in stars such as Thiago Alcantara, Cesc Fabregas, Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera, but has so far found no success.
Midfield seems to be the main issue for the club as the Merseyside outfit overran them in the middle of the park and the side are clearly missing the retired Paul Scholes.
A deal for Fellaini could still be on – as could one for team mate Leighton Baines – but Moyes is clearly not relying on this happening.
Whether this is simply a front from the Scot or the boss really believes it is unknown, but if United play like they did against Liverpool for the rest of the campaign the club could find retaining the title very difficult.
