Jose Mourinho nears Stamford Bridge return as Real prepare to give the Special One the boot.
Real Madrid president Fiorentino Perez will hold a press conference at 19:00 BST on Monday where he is expected to announce the departure of head-coach Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese tactician has been widely tipped to leave the Santiago Bernabeu and return to Chelsea this summer, but the 50-year-old could now be relieved of his duties with two La Liga matches remaining.
After losing the Copa del Rey final on Friday, the self-appointed ‘Special One’ described this season as the ‘worst’ of his illustrious career..
Real are currently 13 points behind Barcelona in La Liga and were knocked out of the Champions League at the semi-final stage to Borussia Dortmund.
Chelsea interim boss Rafa Benitez will leave Stamford Bridge after the club’s post-season tour of the USA and Mourinho looks set to return to the club where he won two Premier League titles and an FA Cup between 2004 and 2007.
Real Madrid announced the press conference on their official website but are yet to give any details about its subject.
Sky Sports journalism Guillem Balague says Perez will announce Mourinho’s departure but the Portuguese will remain in charge of Real’s final two matches of the season against Real Sociedad and Osasuna.
