The Green Bay Packers take on divisional rivals the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football looking to build on their win over the Chicago Bears in Week 4.
It hasn’t all been straight-forward for the boys from Green Bay though, as after a loss to another NFC North rival in the shape of the Detroit Lions the week before, Aaron Rodgers and Co. are 2-2 for the season.
Nevertheless, the 38-17 win over the Bears was significant for morale as Rodgers threw for 302 yards and four touchdowns on 22-of-28 passing after receiving criticism in recent weeks and complaining that the offense wasn’t moving quick enough.
It certainly looked in good form on Sunday, and the Packers will want to gain some momentum and recover from a poor start to the season in order to put pressure on the Lions at the top of the division.
Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson appear to have found their feet, but the running game is still an area of improvement with Eddie Lacy yet to crack the 50 yards mark after averaging 78.5 last season.
However, he may well have an opportunity to put that right on Thursday night, with the Vikings (2-2) having a few problems of their own to deal with.
Sunday’s 41-28 home win over the Atlanta Falcons was highly impressive, but rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is struggling with an ankle injury and is questionable for Thursday.
Given he contributed for the fourth-highest yard total in franchise history in the win over the Falcons, they will want him back in action in order to take advantage of the Packers’ weaknesses.
The hosts are 15-4-1 at home against Minnesota in the regular season over the past 20 years, and with Rodgers in particular excelling against them, he will look to take Green Bay to a winning record come Friday morning.
