The Vikings have suspended a coach for homophobic comments made towards former Punter and gay right advocate Chris Kluwe.
The Minnesota Vikings have suspended special teams coordinator Mike Priefer for three games as a result of an investigation into claims by former Punter Chris Kluwe that Priefer made homophobic remarks around him, according to Mike Florio of PFT.
The investigation results included a 29-page memo from an outside law firm which stated that Kluwe’s accusations were at least partially true. One of the key details was a comment Priefer made to Kluwe and long-snapper Cullen Loeffler where he allegedly said, “We should round up all the gays, send them to an island, and then nuke it until it glows.”
During the investigation Priefer at first denied making this statement but later referred to the comments as “…a joke between three people, three men.”
Chris Kluwe recently announced his intent to file a lawsuit against the Vikings, accusing the team of discouraging him from supporting marriage equality and equal rights and using that as pretext for cutting him prior to the 2013 season.
