LeBron James went 11-for-18 from the field, while Dwyane Wade added 31 points and eight assists as Miami move to 32-14 at the top of the Eastern Conference.
The Rockets came into the game on a high-scoring streak, averaging 118.5 points in their last six games, and also tied an NBA record on Tuesday night by hitting 23 beyond the arc against the Golden State Warriors. Yet despite rallying back from a 17-point deficit, they were denied by some key defensive plays late on in the game.
James Harden, who recorded a double-double with 36 points and 12 rebounds, led the charge with 16 points in the fourth-quarter alone. However, his team fell agonizingly short as the Heat made some vital stops which eventually saw them run out with the win.
“We held them to 108, that team can score,” said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra after the game.
James secured another personal landmark by reaching 5,000 points in a Heat uniform in just 187 games, and will hope to add to that when the Heat face the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday.
