Guard is currently suspended after alleged bullying scandal.
Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey has revealed that he has spent time with team-mate Richie Incognito since his suspension, and insists that he wants to return to the team.
Incognito is scheduled for a grievance hearing with the Dolphins on Thursday, where he is looking to recoup lost wages since he was suspended and ask for a decision on whether he will return to the franchise or be allowed to leave.
The Dolphins guard has been suspended since the start of the month, after allegations were made from Jonathan Martin that he had subjected him to bullying and used racial slurs.
While Incognito has since insisted that it was merely locker room culture and that he believed he and Martin were just friends joking around, the NFL has launched an investigation into the matter while the Dolphins have enlisted the help of a special task-force to look into the culture within the team.
Nevertheless, Pouncey revealed that he even watched the Dolphins’ 20-16 win over the San Diego Chargers last weekend and that his team-mate wants to return to the set-up.
“Me and him watched the game together at my house,” Pouncey explained after Wednesday’s practice, as reported by ESPN.
“He’s doing really good. He’s in good spirits. He wants to get back on this football team and wants to get back and play football. Richie Incognito, the football player, so that’s the only thing he knows. He’s missing it to death. He’ll be alright.”
Both Pouncey and Bryant McKinnie have also revealed that they have been questioned as part of the investigation, and believe it is the right thing to do in order to get to the bottom of the situation.
