The Oklahoma City Thunder will look to avenge their defeat in the semi-finals last season and move beyond the Memphis Grizzlies this time round.
Last year, the Thunder were without injured point guard Russell Westbrook and eventually surrendered to defeat in five games.
However, Westbrook is now healthy and Oklahoma City are confident that they will avoid any repeat losses this time round.
While Kevin Durant is undoubtedly their biggest threat, his ability to draw attention away from others allows the likes of the explosive Westbrook to influence games, and it will be a tough task to limit both men through the course of a playoff series.
However, if any team is potentially capable of doing so, then it is the wily old Grizzlies who have both the personnel and experience to know how to deal with these situations.
With Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph providing the strength and presence inside, point guard Mike Conley will look to have an influence on matters on both ends.
Nevertheless, ultimately it may come down to slowing down Durant who has averaged 32.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.5 assists this year as he continues to round out his game.
While his numbers were slightly lower against Memphis during the regular season, he was still able to help lift them to three wins in four, and while his influence will need to be restricted. the Grizzlies may be better served in limiting those around him.
Another telling factor in this match-up is the tempo, as ultimately the Thunder will look to use their athleticism and speed against the Grizzlies who will look to slow down the pace.
It is an intriguing clash that many experts believe could provide the first shock of the playoffs, but Durant and the Thunder will undoubtedly have other plans.
