Dawes will miss the opening match of 2015 after accepting a one-game ban for engaging in rough conduct on North Melbourne’s Andrew Swallow.
Melbourne forward Chris Dawes will miss the opening game of the 2015 AFL season after accepting a one-game ban for striking North Melbourne captain Andrew Swallow during the Demons’ 30-point loss on Saturday.
Dawes’ poor previous record will ensure the suspension will remain at one match.
The 26-year-old was reported by umpire Justin Schmitt for engaging in rough conduct during the third quarter of that match at Etihad Stadium.
Dawes however was cleared of of making contact with North Melbourne’s Scott Thompson, as the AFL Match Review Panel deemed the force used was below that required for a report.
The 193cm forward played 18 games this season, kicking a modest total of 20 goals.
