Melbourne say promising midfielder Jimmy Toumpas is not on the trade table.
Demons assistant coach Simon Goodwin told 5AA Radio that the 20-year-old was highly rated at the club, and that they had no intention of trading Toumpas.
“We see Jimmy having a really bright future,” Goodwin said.
“He probably didn’t have his best year last year – he had a few little injuries here and there, but we think he’s going to have a bit of a breakout year [in 2015].”
Toumpas was selected at pick no.4 in the 2012 National Draft, and has received criticism for not living up to the hype that surrounded him before he was picked up by the Demons.
In other Melbourne trade news, Goodwin said the club hoped to receive a high draft pick in compensation for the loss of key defender James Frawley.
“We’re not quite sure what we’ll get compensation for Frawley, but we suspect it to be quite high,” Goodwin said.
