Melbourne has delisted defender Alex Georgiou after one season with the AFL club.
The mature-age rookie played seven games in 2014, with his last match being the thrilling win over the Crows at Adelaide Oval in round seven.
“Alex wanted to challenge himself at the highest level after winning two premierships at Norwood,” manager of football operations Josh Mahoney said.
“He made personal and financial sacrifices, leaving a successful career and moving interstate.
“He leaves the club having played seven AFL games and knowing that he has made a lasting impression on players and coaches with his attitude ‘to make the most of your AFL opportunity’.”
The backman arrived at Melbourne after playing in Norwood’s 2012 SANFL premiership.
