Ryan Giggs takes charge of Manchester United for the first time against Norwich City this afternoon, having been appointed interim manager in the wake of David Moyes’ sacking.
It completes a long journey from youth prospect to first team stalwart to dugout for Giggs, and the Welshman is expected to name an experienced side including Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic in central defence.
Patrice Evra is Man Utd’s only new doubt for the game, with Rafael and Robin Van Persie still sidelined through longer term injuries.
If Evra is unable to play, Alex Buttner may well start at left back.
Elsewhere, Giggs will have selection dilemmas in attacking midfield, and may elect for Danny Welbeck on the left wing instead of Shinji Kagawa due to his increased defensive contribution, and Antonio Valencia could come in for Nani on the right.
Giggs could also pick himself if he felt like it.
Norwich City played excellently against Liverpool last week, and almost forced a draw, but are now even more desperate for points in their attempts to avoid relegation.
Elliott Bennett is a fresh doubt for the Canaries, who are still missing Joseph Yobo thanks to a longer term issue, but otherwise Neil Adams has a full squad to choose from.
