David Moyes is desperate to sign Aberdeen’s Ryan Gauld…
Manchester United will step up their pursuit of Aberdeen youngster Ryan Gauld, who has been dubbed ‘The new Lionel Messi’, reports the Sunday People.
The 17-year-old Scottish attacker has brilliant feet, and his small frame and impressive dribbling skills have drawn comparisons to the world’s best player.
David Moyes sent trusted scout Jimmy Lumsden to watch Gauld make his debut for Scotland Under-21s last week against Georgia, and he was mightily impressed with what he saw.
Gauld has also been watched by the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool and Chelsea, but United are reportedly in pole position for the wonderkid’s signature.
As a result, Aberdeen are demanding £5m for their teenage prodigy, but United are happy to pay the money for the player who is being touted as the most promising Scottish youngster for the past twenty years.
Moyes has given plenty of game time this season to 18-year-old Adnan Januzaj, proving that if players are good enough, he is more than happy to throw teenagers in at the deep end.
While Gauld will almost definitely start in United’s Under-21 set-up, and could even be sent back on loan to the Scottish club immediately.
