Red Devils want to bring left-back to Old Trafford.
Manchester United are ready to step-up their pursuit of highly-rated Bundesliga left-back Bastian Oczipka.
As revealed by fanatix earlier this month, Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson is keen on the 23-year-old Frankfurt man as a long-term replacement for Patrice Evra and is ready to make a concrete offer this week.
Evra is in the twilight of his career, while current understudy Alexander Buttner has only been trusted with one Premier League start since arriving in the summer.
Ferguson is a long term admirer of Leighton Baines of Everton but was priced out of a deal for the 28-year-old in August, with the Toffees reportedly demanding upwards of £15m.
Man Utd rarely pay big bucks for a player over the age of 27, with Robin Van Persie a notable exception.
Instead, it would appear that the Premier League giants will look to Oczipka as Evra’s successor, and the German possesses many similar attributes to original target Baines.
As well as a top tackler who positions himself excellently, Oczipka is a fine dribbler who combines brilliantly with the midfielder in front of him, getting forward as often as possible to help his attack.
His seven assists in 17 Bundesliga games this season illustrate that, and that figure is rather higher than the two Baines has managed so far in the Premier League.
Oczipka only joined Frankfurt this summer so the Bundesliga outfit are unlikely to consider offers until at least the end of the season, however.
