How fanatix thinks Moyes will field his United side.
In the Premier League things aren’t too rosy for Manchester United, but a good result in the Champions League against Shakhtar Donetsk will go some way to amending that.
The Red Devils started well in Europe with a 4-2 drubbing of Bayer Leverkusen, but the Ukrainian champions will be a much tougher task.
Here is how fanatix thinks David Moyes will start the Scot’s side for the tie.
GK – David De Gea: The Spaniard is the undisputed No.1 at Old Trafford after a difficult start and has looked a lot more solid this season than in the past.
RB – Phil Jones: The England international struggled at right-back against West Bromwich Albion at the weekend, but is likely to be preferred by Moyes as a more defensive option than Rafael.
LB – Patrice Evra: Alexander Buttner’s performance at the weekend in the defeat to the Baggies showed that the experience of Evra was much needed, as the Dutchman failed defensively.
CB – Jonny Evans: With Rio Ferdinand not travelling due to injury, Evans will get a chance at the back and could stake a claim as the 34-year-old has been less than impressive this term.
CB – Nemanja Vidic: The captain is fit and available and therefore will go straight into the starting XI for this important tie.
CM – Marouane Fellaini: The Belgian impressed against Leverkusen a fortnight ago and with Anderson looking poor against the Baggies, Fellaini will be a welcome inclusion.
CM – Michael Carrick: Seemed somewhat out of sorts in the league on Saturday, but then most of United’s players did and Carrick is still an important player for big occasions.
RM – Antonio Valencia: After missing out at the weekend expect to see the Ecuadorian back in the side, as Valencia is the only winger really doing well for the Red Devils in 2013/14.
LM – Shinji Kagawa: Moyes is starting to give the attacking midfielder a run in the team at last and Kagawa has shown promising signs and should get another start in Ukraine.
ST – Wayne Rooney: Arguably the only United player that has consistently performed well this campaign, Moyes would be lost without Rooney in the side.
ST – Robin Van Persie: Another important return to the team is Van Persie, with the Dutchman having been absent recently with injury. The top-scorer will add world-class talent.
