Is Nani being given a new contract, or is he heading to Monaco…?
Contradictory reports have been released stating that Manchester United’s Portuguese winger Nani could be rewarded a new contract, or alternatively, Monaco’s sporting director Vadim Vasilyev claims that the player has been offered to them.
According to Italian publication Tuttomercato, Nani looks set to sign a new contract with the Premier League champions,
David Moyes has apparently tempted the skilful operator to stay with the club with a new bumper £5m-a-year deal.
Alternatively, Monaco sporting director Vasilyev says that his club are considering a deal for the the United flyer, reports The Sun.
“He has been proposed to us. He is a very good player, but there have been no talks so far,” he said.
Nani struggled to make regular first-team appearances in Sir Alex Ferguson’s last year in charge, playing only 17 games and scoring four goals. He had been linked to Juventus, Monaco and PSG as a result.
If he were to stay, the 26-year-old does face stiff competition for a starting berth from experienced performers Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia, as well as emerging talents Wilfried Zaha and Jesse Lindgard, both of whom have impressed during pre-season.
Nani has scored 26 league goals for United since his move from Sporting Lisbon in 2007 for a £20m fee.
