The Red Devils are looking at the possibility of signing Benteke.
After a disappointing transfer window, Manchester United manager David Moyes is looking towards January and is keeping tabs on Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, according to the Mirror.
After several deals fell through the Scot only managed to bring in Uruguayan youngster Guillermo Varela and Everton’s Marouane Fellaini as new faces.
Moyes is keen to add more potency to the United attack, with the prospect of losing Wayne Rooney still hanging over Old Trafford and Robin Van Persie now in the striker’s 30th year.
Benteke was strongly linked with a move away from Villa Park this summer following a prolific debut season in Birmingham.
The 22-year-old netted 19 Premier League goals after moving from Genk and was one of the principle reasons the Villans avoided relegation.
Both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were keeping tabs on the attacker, but after much negotiation Villa boss Paul Lambert managed to convince Benteke to stay and the Belgium international signed a new £60,000-a-week deal.
However, Lambert is realistic enough to know that this does not guarantee that no one will try and prize the striker away again in January and Moyes is now keen, as the 50-year-old looks to add some strength and height to the Red Devils attack.
The Glaswegian was at Hampden Park to watch Benteke’s national side beat Scotland 0-2 on Friday in a World Cup qualifier and although the forward didn’t score, the Villa ace has looked in good form in the league once again – bagging three goals in as many matches against strong opposition like the Gunners and Chelsea.
