Van Gaal eyes new midfield target.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has made Atletico Madrid playmaker Koke his top target for the January transfer window, according to CaughtOffside.
The Spanish international, 22, is one of the brightest prospects in Europe at the moment, and has been compared to Barcelona legend Xavi in his playing style and ability.
Koke played a big part in Atletico’s superb title win in La Liga last season and has since been linked several times with top clubs around Europe, with United now lining up a £37.5m bid.
The Red Devils have been keen to sign a new midfielder, and may now move for Koke over the likes of AS Roma’s Kevin Strootman or Juventus’ Arturo Vidal.
