Manchester United revealed to have made huge money bid to steal Arsenal’s record signing from under their noses.
Manchester United made a late bid to sign Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid before he moved to Arsenal, report the Manchester Evening Post.
The Red Devils had a distinctly underwhelming transfer window, only sealing a late deal for Marouane Fellaini for more than his release clause after it expired.
Perhaps if they’d read the latest sports and gambling information at GamblingSites.com, they may have had a better idea of the best deals on the market.
The Gunners too were thought to be having a poor window, but the transfer of Ozil changed everything – the mood of both the club’s fans and players, as well as the winning mentality.
That could easily have been Manchester United, with the MEN claiming the Red Devils botched an astonishingly last minute bid as the Old Trafford club attempted to salvage their summer.
“United made a call,” a Manchester United source told the newspaper.
“Kenny Moyes, David’s brother who is an agent, was trying desperately to get hold of Ozil’s agent.
“I think that by the time they managed it it was too late.”
Arsenal will feel relieved they managed to bring the Germany international to London, as his impact has been tremendous.
Five assists and a goal in his opening five matches illustrated his immense talent, and Mesut Ozil is perhaps the most gifted player in the Barclays Premier League.
Ozil’s admiration for Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is clear, and the fact that the Frenchman is fluent in German may have been a big factor in the 24 year-old’s decision – as might his experience compared to big club debutante David Moyes.
