Chilean press claim midfielder deal is close.Manchester United have agreed terms for the £40m signing of Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal from Juventus, according to El Mercucrio.
The 27-year-old has long been linked as a top target for the Red Devils as well as several other top clubs, and a screen shot of the Chilean paper (as found by 101 Great Goals) claims a deal has been all but agreed.
Vidal will supposedly earn the same amount as United’s star striker Robin van Persie, taking home a salary of around £10.5m per year, with his performances for Chile at this summer’s World Cup persuading manager Louis van Gaal that he is the real deal.
Toni Kroos had also been linked with a move to Old Trafford before choosing a switch to Real Madrid instead, making Vidal the club’s top target to strengthen in the middle of the park.
The former Bayer Leverkusen star has been in Turin since 2011, scoring 28 goals in 95 appearances for the Italian giants, winning the Serie A title in each of his three seasons with the club.
