David Moyes doesn’t know if he’ll bid again for Cesc Fabregas…
Manchester United boss David Moyes is unsure whether his side will bid again for Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas, he told the club’s official website.
“I couldn’t tell you if there will be another bid. Obviously we’ll take stock and make a decision on what we do next,” said United’s new Scottish manager.
The club have already had two significant offers flatly rejected by the Catalan giants.
“But we have a good squad already. You can’t forget about the quality that’s already here,” Moyes continued.
“Undoubtedly we hope to add to it and I’m quite confident we’ll do that… certainly before the window shuts.”
The Red Devils have been chasing a proven centre-midfielder all summer, and failed in their pursuit of Spanish sensation Thiago, who joined Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich. As a result, the club switched their attentions to Thiago’s former teammate Cesc Fabregas, but Barcelona are adamant that the player is not for sale.
In this respect, another bid from the English champions would seemingly be futile. Barcelona will not want to lose another midfielder because of Xavi’s age and Thiago’s exit. They are also not in a position where they have to sell.
It is likely that the club will turn to Premier League players Yohan Cabaye and Marouane Fellaini as more realistic alternatives to Fabregas.
