It’s a clash between two of the favourites to finish in the Champions League places in the Premier League, as Manchester City host Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium.
Both sides come into their first match after the international break having lost to north east teams, with Spurs suffering a home defeat at the hands of Newcastle United and City being beaten 1-0 by struggling Sunderland.
However, although the hosts have lost four times on the road already this season, their form at the Etihad has ensured Manuel Pellegrini’s side haven’t slipped out of the title race already.
The Citizens have netted 20 times in front of their own supporters, including impressive victories over Newcastle, Manchester United and Norwich City.
Tottenham meanwhile are yet to really impress during their own campaign, with a brilliant defensive record of only conceding six goals, but also a poor showing in front of goal.
In fact, despite having had the more shots than any other side in the English top tier the north London club have found the net nine times – with only Crystal Palace and the Black Cats having scored less.
Captain Vincent Kompany and David Silva remain doubts for City, whilst Pellegrini could recall goalkeeper Joe Hart after solid performances for England.
Christian Eriksen and Danny Rose are definitely out for the visitors, but there is good news for Andre Villas-Boas as Nacer Chadli, Zeki Fryers and Hugo Lloris are all fit and Emmanuel Adebayor could make the striker’s first appearances of the season against the African’s former side.
