Forward on Champions’ radar.
CHAMPS Man City are set to raid Arsenal again and threaten Arsene Wenger’s desperate bid to keep Theo Walcott. Gunners boss Wenger is trying to persuade Walcott to sign a new contract with the England star’s current deal up at the end of the season.
But City’s new sporting dIrector Txiki Begiristain is urging his club to make the striker, 23, a priority target.

Half a decade ago, the prospect of losing a player to Manchester City would not have concerned the Arsenal faithful.
But since the Emmanuel Adebayor, Kolo Toure, Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy swapped North London for Manchester (fine decisions in hindsight, given City’s recent success), Gunners fans loathe the Etihad Stadium outfit almost as much as Manchester United or Tottenham.
According to the above source, Theo Walcott could be the next big-name Arsenal player to jump ship for the mega-rich Champions.
At the heart of Walcott’s transfer dispute with the Gunners are two issues: the 23-year-old’s desire to play up-front, rather than on the wing, and his £100,000 per week wage demands.
While City would have no problem paying the England international what he wants, it’s tricky to see Walcott handed a striking berth for Roberto Mancini’s side, with the Carlos Tevez, Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli already competing for two places.
Indeed, given that Scott Sinclair has barely featured for City since joining in the summer, Mancini would most likely employ Walcott on the right-wing.
If the former Southampton man truly craves a striking role, he should think long and hard about staying at Arsenal on the £75,000 per week that boss Arsene Wenger is offering.
The Frenchman has shown a willingness in recent weeks to hand Walcott the central role he is craving and Walcott lead the line in the impressive 5-2 thrashing of Reading with aplomb, scoring the Gunners’ fifth.
Ultimately, Walcott may have to decide between shed loads of cash or playing in his preferred position. Let’s hope he shows integrity and opts for the latter.
