Man City overhauled Newcastle United in the Barclays Premier League; David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri grabbing the goals.

Manchester City thrashed Newcastle United in the final match of the opening weekend of 2013-14 Barclays Premier League season.

After a confident start, Manuel Pellegrini’s side took the lead through David Silva, the Spain playmaker heading home Edin Dzeko’s deflected cross.

Sergio Aguero squeezed home a precise finish from Dzeko’s flick shortly afterwards, and Newcastle’s misery was compounded just before half time when Steven Taylor needlessly hit the Argentine striker with his forearm, earning himself a red card.

After the break, Yaya Toure rifled home a wonderful free kick before substitute Samir Nasri stole in to finish acutely.
