Top-flight champions desperate to get player off their books.
Unsettled Manchester City front man Mario Balotelli is close to agreeing a move back to Italy, with Serie A giants AC Milan keen to sign the player in a deal worth a reported £24 million, say the Sun.
The Italy international only arrived at the Ethiad stadium from Inter Milan three years ago for £22m, and has enjoyed an up-and-down career with the Premier League champions in the intervening period, with more lows than highs though.
This season, however, the Italy international has been frozen out of the first-team picture by head coach Roberto Mancini, with the forward having netted just the one Premier League goal to date, resulting in him falling down the City striking pecking order, as well as having a recent much-publicised training-ground bust-up with his mentor Mancini.
And, despite Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi recently declaring that the 22-year-old was a “rotten apple” who he would never bring to San Siro in the interests of team unity, it appears as though the former Italy Prime Minister has had a dramatic change of heart and has given the green light to bring the striker back to Serie A where he first made his name.
