Manchester City are apparently close to completing the signing of Athletic Bilbao’s highly rated young centre-back Aymeric Laporte, with the Premier League side confident of beating a number of top teams to the 21-year-old’s signature, as reported by talkSPORT.
The Citizens are obviously hugely disappointed with their performance this season, having failed to even remotely challenge for the Premier League title. They never really looked in the race, but a few big signings combined with the arrival of Pep Guardiola are likely to change that next season.
Despite their poor displays this season they’ll be confident in their ability to turn things around, and if you share their confidence then why not head to CasinoShortList.org and check out the offers.
Laporte is one of the most highly sought after young centre-backs in world football at the moment, with his performances in La Liga attracting plenty of attention. Bayern Munich are apparently hugely keen on the Frenchman, but are unwilling to match Bilbao’s £39m asking price (via talkSPORT).
Defence has been a real problem for City this season, with their centre-backs having to be rotated regularly. Club captain Vincent Kompany is naturally first choice, but his persistant injury problems have seen him out of the side more often than in. Nicolas Otamendi, Eliaquim Mangala, and Martin Demichelis have all suffered with injuries of their own, while poor form has also played a real part. City badly need reinforcements this summer, and despite already owning some of the most expensive defenders on the planet, they look set to add Laporte to their lineup this summer.
