Callejon has been linked with a move to Anfield in exchange for the Uruguayan.
With Real Madrid showing interest in want-away Liverpool striker Luis Suarez it was thought Jose Callejon would go the other way to sweeten the deal, but the Spaniard is determined to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.
If Suarez were to depart Anfield it would leave the Reds distinctly lacking in attack – despite the imminent signing of Celta Vigo’s Iago Aspas – and therefore Madrid were prepared to offer forward Callejon as a makeweight.
Yet the 26-year-old seems less keen on a move to Merseyside and would prefer to stay in the Spanish capital.
“I never said I want to go. I want to stay and win titles with Real Madrid. I have a contract until 2015, that says it all,” the winger was quoted in Marca.
The former Madrid youth player rejoined the club in 2011 for £4.4m from Espanyol, just three years after leaving the Bernabeu.
Yet Callejon has failed to really make the impact at Los Blancos that he or the club probably would have wanted and has started just 36 matches in all competitions in two seasons at the La Liga runners-up.
The Spaniard has also been named in a potential swap deal with Malaga for the coveted young winger Isco – who has also been drawing attention from Manchester City.
Likewise AS Roma have shown interest in signing Callejon and all the signals point towards the fact that, despite the forward wanting to stay at Madrid, he is likely to be plying his trade somewhere else next season.
