According to a man who should know, Luke Campbell cannot sleep on Scott Moises during their eight-round lightweight bout tonight.
Campbell is looking to extend his pro record to five straight wins, but according to undefeated super-featherweight Mitchell Smith, Moises could be a handful tonight in Hull.
“Scott is obviously coming up a weight to lightweight to box Luke, but having shared a ring with him I do think he’ll cause Luke Campbell problems, I really do,” Smith said.
“He’s very much underrated and when it’s time for me to vacate the Southern Area super-featherweight title I think he could be the next in line for it.
“Scott’s one of those opponents that could cause anyone trouble and it’s definitely a step-up for Luke compared to his first few opponents.
“Luke has boxed now at a high level for a number of years so he knows the importance of staying focused, but it’s one of those fights where he can’t afford to underestimate Scott Moises because he will definitely come to win.
“He’s going turn up and he’s really going to fancy the fight against Luke Campbell, he really is.”
Moises, who is trained by Graham Everett and former British and European lightweight champion Jon Thaxton, stands at over six feet tall and Smith insists this makes him a potentially tricky opponent for Campbell.
“Personally, I think Scott is capable of giving anyone on the British circuit problems, including British champions,” Smith said.
“He’s a good fighter and a very awkward and durable opponent. He’s very tall and because he has long elbows and such long arms he’s very hard to hit around the body.
“It’s very important for Luke to stay composed and do what he does best. He should come through and win the fight but I think it will be a good test for him and I think Scott will push him.”
