With Liverpool midfielders dropping like flies, Rodgers could revert to a wing-back formation…
Due to Liverpool’s injury crisis, we reckon Brendan Rodgers will revert to the wing-back formation he used earlier on in the season.
This means three centre-backs could be deployed, with Iago Aspas given a rare opportunity up front…
GK) Simon Mignolet
Barring injury, the Belgian will almost certainly start for the Reds inn between the sticks, despite making two high profile mistakes during Liverpool’s festive defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea. Liverpool fans will be desperate for him not to make another one…
DCR) Kolo Toure
The experienced Ivorian could well return to the side on the right of a back three. Because of his composure on the ball, and his ability to play out from the back, Toure has more than enough ability to play here following Mamadou Sakho’s injury.
DC) Martin Skrtel
The Slovakian has played every minute of every match this term, and should start again for the Reds at the heart of this defence. He will have to deal with a Hull attack who scored six goals in their last match, however.
DCL) Daniel Agger
The Dane returned to the lineup last time out against Chelsea, and put in an accomplished performance from left-back. If Brendan Rodgers chooses to stick with a standard 4-3-3 formation, Agger should start at left-back, but if – as expected – he switches to a wing-back formation, Agger will likely start on the left of a back three.
