Brazilian magician showers England striker with praise…
Liverpool’s 21-year-old midfielder Coutinho reckons his Anfield teammate Daniel Sturridge is good enough to play for Brazil, reports the Telegraph.
The Brazilian playmaker has been sensational for the Reds ever since his January arrival from Inter Milan, but thinks that Sturridge, who also arrived in the winter transfer window, has all the attributes needed to star for the five time World Cup champions.
“He’s similar to a Brazilian player in his style because he’s quick with the ball at his feet. He’s a fantastic player, so, yes, he has the qualities to be a Brazilian player,” Coutinho said, ahead of this weekend’s mouthwatering Premier League tie against Manchester United.
Sturridge has started the season in blisteringly good form – bagging both winners in Liverpool’s opening two Premier League victories, and adding another brace in the League Cup triumph over Notts County.
“He also scores a lot of goals, which is always good,” continued Coutinho.
“He is an excellent footballer, always making the right runs at the right time. He helps us combine and that’s the good thing about the relationship we have. He’s a fantastic player to play with.”
Many pundits and fans alike agree that the relationship between Coutinho and Sturridge has helped Liverpool come through Luis Suarez’s ten-game ban relatively unscathed. In fact, the Reds have won six out of the seven matches he’s been banned for.
Coutinho thinks that when the enigmatic Uruguayan returns, the Reds will have the best strike force in the country.
“When Luis returns I think we will have two of the best strikers in the Premier League together so I’m really looking forward to playing with both of them,” he said.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will be relying heavily on star performances from both Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge if Liverpool want to maintain their perfect start to the season at home to United on Sunday.
