Reds have still to receive any bids though from los Blancos for their star man.
Liverpool head coach Brendan Rodgers has given his strongest indication yet that controversial front man Luis Suarez could be leaving Anfield this summer, reports the Daily Mirror.
The mercurial Uruguay international has been the subject of much speculation of late linking the player with a possible big-money move to Spanish giants Real Madrid when the transfer window reopened at the start of this month.
The 26-year-old himself has even spoken of his desire to quit the Reds and move to the Santiago Bernabeu next season while recently representing his country at the Fifa Confederations Cup in Brazil.
And speaking on the subject of the club’s summer transfer activity, the Northern Irishman revealed: “I think it depends on who goes out of the club, because naturally we’ll need to fill any areas that have been vacated – we’ll see how it develops over the course of the next few months.
“Obviously, the plan was to get our signings in as soon as we possibly could, and we still hope to do that with a few more.”
As yet, though, Liverpool have still to receive any official contact whatsoever from los Blancos regarding Suarez, who has registered a highly impressive 51 goals and 24 assists in just 96 matches in all competitions since joining the Reds from Ajax in Jan 2011.
