Forget Daniel Sturridge and Tom Ince, Liverpool have just made their most important signing of the winter.
There had been plenty of speculation about the future of teenager Raheem Sterling, after the winger’s dazzling displays since breaking into the first-team an Anfield.
Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea were all thought to be eyeing the 18-year-old greedily, after Sterling made himself a Liverpool regular and grabbed an England debut within a matter of months.
The speedy starlet has started 16 of the club’s 17 Premier League matches and has become a pivotal member of Liverpool’s attack and a rare bright spot in a shaky start to the club’s season.
A new long term contract will help to ward off Sterling’s suitors and should end speculation that the forward, who joined Liverpool from QPR in 2010, is homsesick and wants to return to London.
