Reds desperate for a centre-half following Kolo Toure’s cruel injury…
Liverpool are very close to a deal to bring in PSG’s French centre-half Mamadou Sakho, claims Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri and ITV football.
The Reds have only one available centre-half for their crucial Premier League tie against Manchester United at the weekend, with Sebastian Coates, Martin Skrtel and now Kolo Toure all out on the sidelines.
Toure has enjoyed a very impressive start to his Anfield career, but suffered a nasty groin injury in Liverpool’s 4-2 League Cup victory against Notts County on Tuesday evening. Currently Brendan Rodgers only has Daniel Agger and inexperienced Andre Wisdom to choose from – with the latter playing particularly badly against the League One minnows.
Sakho is a 24-year-old French international, and has been heavily courted by AC Milan this summer, too.
He relies on his strength and his aerial ability – which would seemingly fit the Premier League perfectly.
If a deal is wrapped up quickly enough, Sakho could even start against United. With three days left of the transfer window, Sakho is desperate to move after falling down the pecking order at PSG, and a move seemingly suits both parties.
Liverpool is in advanced talks for Sakho with PSG, according to Sky Italy
