Everton are ready to challenge Liverpool for the signature of Ryan Bertrand.
Liverpool will face competition from Merseyside rivals Everton to sign Chelsea full-back Ryan Bertrand, reports The Daily Mirror.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to sign the out-of-favour Bertrand, who has slipped behind Cesar Azpilicueta in the Blues’ pecking order.
Jose Mourinho is ready to let Bertrand leave Stamford Bridge but will expect Liverpool to pay a higher price for the player than a non-direct rival.
And Liverpool will face competition for Bertrand from Everton, who may be forced into the market if Manchester United make their interest in Leighton Baines solid.
Rodgers believes that with around two quality signings in January, his side can challenge for the Premier League title this term.
