Liverpool are being linked with Napoli’s young Italian defender Armando Anastasio to ease the shortage of fullbacks in the squad, reports the Mirror.
The 17-year-old is highly rated in Italy, and has been recently linked with a move to QPR as well. Anastasio hasn’t made an appearance for Napoli in Serie A this term, but has turned out for various Italian international youth sides in the past few seasons.
Liverpool are short in the fullback positions, with first-choice Jose Enrique suffering from a long-term injury, young Jon Flanagan also out for at least a fortnight, and right-back Glen Johnson limping off before the hour during Liverpool’s win against Hull City on new Year’s Day.
It’s unlikely that Anastasio would come straight into the first-team, and would more than likely join impressive youngsters like Jordan Rossiter, Jordon Ibe, Tiagi Ilori and Jerome Sinclair in Liverpool’s Under-21 side.
Because Anastasio hasn’t yet signed a professional deal with Napoli, he would be available in a cut price deal, although it’s probable that his side, now managed by ex-Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, will want to tie him down to a new contract.
