Reds’ bid casts doubt on future of club stalwart.
Liverpool have made a £5m bid for Ajaccio goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, according to French source Le10 Sport.
Newcastle vs Liverpool tickets are still available for the huge clash at St James’ Park on 27 April!
The move casts further doubt on the future of current Reds number one Pepe Reina, who has been linked with a surprise move away from Anfield this month.
Mexico international Ochoa signed for Ajaccio from Mexican outfit America in 2011 and has impressed in his two-and-a-half seasons in Ligue 1.
The big-haired stopper has over 50 caps for the national team and was part of the Central American outfit’s squid for the 2010 World Cup.
Liverpool are also thought to be interested in Birmingham youngster Jack Butland, with boss Brendan Rodgers understood to be unconvinced by Reina, who has been at Anfield since signing from Villareal in 2005.
Reina has missed a number of games this season through injury and Rodgers is believed to rate back-up custodian Brad Jones, who will remain at the club if the Spaniard departs.
Arsenal and Barcelona have been linked with moves for Reina.
