Reds keen to bring Sneijder to Anfield.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is lining up a shock move for unsettled Inter Milan midfield player Wesley Sneijder, according to reports in the People.
It had been thought that the coveted Netherlands international was on his way to Turkish giants Galatasaray after the two clubs had agreed a £8.2 million deal for the 28-year-old, however, it is believed that the player is still hoping to seal a last-minute switch to the Premier League instead.
And, with the Merseysiders on the lookout for new players to bring to Anfield during the January transfer window, Liverpool Managing Director Ian Ayre has reportedly discussed the possibility of bringing the playmaker to Anfield with the club’s American owners, Fenway Sports Group.
However, there still remains one huge stumbling block before the move can take place, with Sneijder said to be demanding a staggering £160,000 a week to join the Reds, a salary that would make the midfield player the highest earner at the club, on more than even skipper Steven Gerrard.
The one hope that Rodgers and Co have though is that Inter president Massimo Moratti is desperate for the player to leave San Siro and so rid the club of his enormous wages, meaning a cut-price deal is on the table.
