Belgium has just enjoyed a sensational debut campaign in the top flight.
Liverpool will use the money that they receive from the sale of want-away front man Luis Suarez in order to bring in coveted Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke this summer, says the Sunday Mirror.
The unsettled Uruguay international is expected to shortly exit Anfield, having made it clear in various different interviews during the past week that he wants to quit the Merseyside giants in order to join Spanish outfit Real Madrid.
And with Liverpool head coach Brendan Rodgers and the club’s American owners the Fenway Sports Group said to be determined to let Suarez leave, thoughts are now turning to who can replace the coveted marksman at Anfield next season.
First on the Northern Irishman’s wish list is understood to be Villa’s red-hot Belgium international, who has only been at Villa Park for just the one season, having arrived in the Midlands from Genk for just £7 million last summer.
However, after an eye-catching debut campaign in the Premier League, in which the 22-year-old netted 19 goals in 34 top-flight outings, Benteke is believed to also want to try out a new challenge in his career.
Liverpool, though, will need to spend at least £25m in order to land their man when the transfer window reopens on July 1.
