Bayern set to test Reds resolve with summer move for Uruguayan.
Pep Guardiola, who will take over as the new Bayern Munich head coach at the end of this season, has made Liverpool front man Luis Suarez his number one transfer target for the summer, reports the Sunday Mirror.
The former Barcelona manager has just been confirmed as Jupp Heynckes’s successor at the Allianz Arena and it is understood that the Catalan is desperate to make two marquee signings upon his arrival in Bavaria.
One of those new faces will be Atletico de Madrid goal poacher Radamel Falcao, and Guardiola’s dream is to pair the Colombia international up front with Liverpool’s mercurial striker Suarez in what would be a dream and red-hot South American forward line.
The Uruguay international is enjoying a sensational season in front of goal to date for the Merseysiders, scoring yet another goal in the club’s 5-0 rout of Norwich City, and the Reds have absolutely no intention whatsoever of allowing Suarez to depart Anfield.
However, there remains one problem in the shape of Guardiola’s brother and representative, who also happens to be Suarez’s agent, meaning both men are privy to the player’s contract details at Liverpool, and the exact value of his buy-out clause, meaning that were Bayern to offer Liverpool £40 million for Suarez, then Rodgers and Co would be powerless to prevent him from departing the club.
