The Reds goalkeeper’s performances so far this term have been lacklustre, with his seemingly relaxed attitude on the pitch causing some fans to chew off their nails during games.
And Rodgers has challenged him to get back to his best or risk losing his place with the move for Victor Valdes imminently approaching.
“I think Simon is a bit laid back. The key thing is to make sure you are on the front foot and aggressive,” the manager said.
Liverpool are apparently keeping a close watch on Valdes as he continues to recover from an injury that has kept him sidelined for the best part of the year, and could offer him a deal in the coming weeks should his progression continue unhampered.
