Rodgers’ side were beaten 6-1 by Stoke City on the Premier League final day, leading to speculation surrounding the Northern Irishman’s future at Anfield.
However, ESPNFC report that Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group will not discuss Rodgers’ future during a major end-of-season meeting.
Liverpool slumped to sixth position following the embarrassing final day defeat, meaning the club will miss out on Champions League football next season despite coming close to winning the Premier League title last year.
It seems FSG will continue to back Rodgers into next season, but there’s no doubt the American owners will be issuing a ‘please explain’ after the former Swansea boss made a number of poor signings.
Rodgers is believed to have made Aston Villa hitman Christian Benteke his number one transfer target this summer, while out-of-contract Manchester City midfielder James Milner also remains on the radar.
